Author Biography
Tara Britt is a criminal prosecutor, educator and emerging voice in romantic suspense whose work is grounded in real-world experience and emotional authenticity. With over two decades in the legal field, Britt brings a rare level of credibility and depth to her storytelling -- blending high-stakes crime with compelling human relationships.
She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education with an emphasis in Literature and a Master's Degree in Education from Northeastern State University, as well as a Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa College of Law. Her early career began in education, where she taught creative writing and theater in Laredo, Texas -- laying the foundation for her lifelong passion for storytelling.
Since 1998, Britt has served as a prosecutor for the State of Oklahoma, trying over 100 jury trials involving complex and high-profile cases, including homicide, child abuse, sex crimes and other violent offenses. Her extensive work alongside law enforcement agencies has given her an insider's understanding of criminal investigation, legal strategy, and the psychological dynamics of both victims and offenders.
In addition to her prosecutorial work, Britt has contributed to the professional development of fellow attorneys as a faculty member for the National District Attorneys Association, where she has taught trial advocacy and cross-examination techniques.
Her debut novel, To Die For Her, reflects this unique background --delivering a story that is not only emotionally engaging but also grounded in procedural realism. Drawing inspiration from real-life events, including the case of DEA agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, Britt crafts a narrative that explores danger, betrayal, and the human cost of justice.
Britt's writing is deeply personal. She returned to storytelling during one of the most difficult periods of her life -- while caring for her mother during a battle with pancreatic cancer. Writing became both an outlet and a refuge, ultimately leading to the completion of her first novel. That emotional foundation gives her work a sincerity and depth that resonates with readers.
At its core, To Die For Her explores the intersection of love and danger, following two driven professionals who find connection in the midst of life-threatening circumstances. Britt's storytelling highlights the vulnerability behind strength, and the emotional awakening that can occur even in the most high-pressure environments.
She is currently based in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area, where she continues her work as a prosecutor while actively writing. She is an avid reader with a strong interest in the psychological thrillers and crime dramas, and is already developing additional titles within the To Die For Her series, expanding its characters and narrative universe.
